Although it wasn’t originally common or even possible, internet access on cell phones has become more and more universal in recent years, particularly on smart phones such as the iPhone and the Droid. Through 3G networks, you can all surf the internet, access social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, and even check our e-mails, even when you’re away from a computer. The advent of the 4G network, however, has allowed smart phone users to do so much more. Notably, one of these is the ability to video chat through your phone.
3G networks, when compared with internet service on our home computers, is fairly slow, which ultimately limits how much can be done with it and the speed at which you can surf the internet on your phone. However, the 4G network can operate at speeds similar to what you might be accustomed to through DSL and cable internet services. This makes video chatting on your phone possible, and this is great for a busy lifestyle. For instance, students who have a short break between classes can easily chat with someone without having to go all the way home to a computer, and anyone working in an office can quickly chat with their friends or family to let them know when they have to work late. Being able to speak face to face just adds a personal touch that you can’t quite get out of mere phone audio, and 4G networks have enabled the ability to have this sort of face to face time even when on the go or in a rush. It can even improve communication in workplace situations, and allow busy businesspeople to maintain contact with any important contacts even when they are away from their desks.
